Powerful halogen spotlights once found wide application not only in production (for lighting workshops, construction sites, etc.), but also in everyday life, primarily in the yards of private houses. But they have one big drawback - high power consumption. After all, the power of an average spotlight with a halogen lamp is about 500 watts. In our article, we will tell you how to reduce power consumption by converting a halogen spotlight to LED. In this case, we will use a matrix with a built-in driver (a circuit that maintains a constant output current).

Materials for manufacturing
To make led spotlight, you will need:
- an old halogen spotlight with a power of 500 watts;
- 50 W LED matrix with built-in driver;
- screwdriver;
- pliers;
- soldering iron;
- self-tapping screws;
- thermal paste.
Step 1. Disassemble the old spotlight
We unscrew the screw of the protective grille and lower it.
We take out the glass covering the spotlight lamp.

We take out the halogen bulb.
We unscrew the screw fixing the reflector and take it out together with the gasket.

We completely dismantle the power supply system, leaving only two incoming wires.

Step 2. Assembling the LED Spotlight
After giving the reflector the necessary shape and removing the wires, we place it in the spotlight body on the thermal paste.

In the center of the reflector, also on the thermal paste, we place the LED matrix, screwing it with self-tapping screws.

We solder the power wires to the matrix.

We assemble the spotlight in the reverse order: put the gasket, glass, lift and fasten the protective grille.

Step 3. Testing
Now it remains only to turn off the lights in the workshop and turn on the spotlight. The lighting has become even brighter than with a halogen lamp, and the new projector will consume ten times less electricity.
