Welding machines are not cheap. Buying them for a one-time small welding job or plasma cutting of thin metal is not economically viable. In our article we will tell you how to make a 12 volt welding machine with your own hands, which can do all the simple work listed above. In addition, he does not need mandatory electrification of the place of work, because he is powered by a conventional battery.

Materials for manufacturing
In order to make a 12 volt welding machine, you will need:
- copper wire with a cross section of 0.2, 0.7 and 1 mm;
- transistor FP1016 on the radiator;
- ferrite core 8 mm thick;
- resistors 68 and 180 ohms with a power of 0.5 W;
- accumulator battery;
- ruler;
- saw;
- insulating tape;
- soldering iron;
- insulated wires;
- pliers;
- accumulator battery.
Step 1. We wind the transformer
From a ferrite rod (in the example, a rod from a magnetic antenna of a medium wave receiver is used), we cut off a piece 35 mm long.

We wind a collector winding of 20 turns of wire 1 mm thick on it.

On top of it in the same direction we wind the base winding: 5 turns of wire 0.7 mm thick.

We wrap both windings with three layers of electrical tape and start winding the step-up winding on top: 500 turns of 0.2 mm wire. Every 125 turns we wind a layer of electrical tape.

The result is a step-up transformer.

Step 2. Putting together a mini welding machine
We will assemble welding according to the scheme of a single-cycle blocking generator on a bipolar transistor FP1016.

We solder all the elements according to the scheme.

Step 3. Testing
As an electrode, we use a copper wire inserted into a match (or another dielectric material).

With the help of a manufactured welding machine, it is easy to cut thin metal (in the example, a blade).

Also see how tightly the two copper wires are welded together.
