Plastic cans are widely used by motorists and farmers to store fuels and lubricants that are used in the operation of both cars and trucks, and for agricultural machinery.
Thus, a large number of empty canisters are collected. But do not rush to throw them in a landfill. We offer to extend the life of canisters by making things useful in the household from them.

Life hack number 1. We make a case for tools
To make a tool case, you will need:
- canister with two necks;
- 2 furniture hinges;
- up to 20 clips for fixing pipes;
- screws with nuts and washers M4-M6;
- grinder or hacksaw;
- electric drill or screwdriver;
- drills 4-6 mm;
- construction marker;
- ruler.
We mark the line along which we will cut the canister along the longitudinal seam.
We apply furniture hinges to the bottom of the canister, combining the places of their folds with the drawn line and mark their holes with a marker.
We drill holes.
We cut the canister in half with a grinder or a hacksaw.
We clean the edges of the cuts and fasten the furniture hinges.
We drill holes in both halves of the canister in accordance with the number of tools in the set and fasten the pipe clips.
We cut off the ends of the screws with a grinder so that nothing interferes.
We insert the tools into the clips, and our case is ready.
Life hack number 2. We make a coil for an electric extension cord
In order to make a reel for an extension cord, you will need:
- canister;
- trimming plastic pipes 50 mm and 70 mm;
- cap for pipe 50 mm;
- mounting corner;
- hot glue;
- flexible cable of the required length;
- plug and socket for concealed wiring;
- knife;
- hacksaw;
- screwdriver;
- pliers.
We mark the centers of the side surfaces of the canister and make holes for a 50 mm pipe.
From a 50 mm pipe we cut off a piece about 3 cm longer than the width of the canister. We build up one of the ends of the pipe with a socket with a diameter of 70 cm, fixing it with hot glue.
We drill a hole in the pipe for the cable.
We make the same hole in the cork.
Insert a cable with a plug at one end through the hole in the cover and pipe. The free end of the cable is brought out through the end of the pipe with a socket.
We clean the ends of the cable and connect the outlet.
We fix the socket in the socket.
At the other end of the trebe we put a plug.
We bend the collar from a narrow corner, attach a handle to it and fasten it to the plug.
