A device for desoldering boards: we disassemble any board in 5 minutes?

Board desoldering

If you are a professional radio amateur, then you know how much time it takes to desolder boards. After all, you have to separately warm up the legs of each radio component. Therefore, desoldering the average board takes about half an hour. In our article we will tell you how to make a device for quick soldering of boards. Using this device, you can unsolder any board in less than five minutes. Don't believe? Then read our article and see for yourself.

Materials for manufacturing

In order to make a quick desoldering tool, you will need:

  • heating element for 220 V (possibly from an old multicooker);
  • a tin can or a piece of tin;
  • metal scissors;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • wooden block;
  • power cord with plug;
  • switch;
  • saw;
  • drill or screwdriver;
  • marker;
  • ruler;
  • soldering iron;
  • solder.

Step 1. We make the frame of the bath

1

We cut a strip of sufficient length from a tin can or sheet metal to go around the heating element around the perimeter.

2

Marking with a marker and helping with a ruler, we bend the tin into a rectangle.

3

At the bottom of the bath we cut the strips. We bend them through one and, having placed the heating element, we fix it with the remaining strips.

If the bath turned out to be too deep, cut off the top side a little. This will make it possible to reduce the amount of solder required, and significantly reduce the time to heat up to operating temperature.

Step 2. Assemble the desoldering tool

1

We cut off the base of the bath from a wooden block and drill two holes in it to output the wires of the heating element.

2

At the end of the bar we make a recess for the switch and holes for the power cord.

3

We bring out the wires of the heating element and through the switch we connect to the power cord with a plug.

4

From below we isolate the stand with adhesive tape.

5

We fasten the body of the bath to the base with a self-tapping screw.

Step 3. Testing

1

We connect the power cable to the outlet, turn on the switch and start filling the bath with solder, melting it directly on the heating element.

2

When the bath is filled with solder, remove the slag formed on the surface with a screwdriver.

3

We take the board intended for desoldering with pliers and place it with contacts in the bath.

4

After melting the solder on the board, take out all the details with the second pliers.

In such a bath it is also convenient to tin the twists of wires.
