“No matter how much you weed, they still climb” - the eternal complaint of any gardener. Maybe it's time to try another method of weed control - cutting its roots. It takes less force to do this, and the back is loaded less. For this, many devices have been invented, one of which is offered to your attention.

For this you will need:

Bicycle fork and wheel of small diameter - for example, from "Salute"
Wood saw - needed for the manufacture of a cutting element of the structure
Some sheet metal - 30 x 15 cm approximately
Metal round and profile pipe
And other metal - strips, rods and corners

Step number 1 - prepare the fork from the bike

Two metal plates need to be welded to it. From the fork you need to cut the stalk tube. Dimensions are removed from the fork, transferred to the metal. After the plates are cut, they are welded to the fork from the bicycle as shown in Fig. 3.

Step number 2 - making the steering wheel

Two pipes need to be welded to the fork, which will control the weeding unit. The main thing that needs to be observed is the horizontal position of the fork from the bike.

In the photo above you can see one of the many ways to mount the steering wheel.

Small pieces of pipe can be welded to the fork from a bicycle, into which a steering wheel made of wooden cuttings can be inserted. This design will be lighter, and therefore more efficient.

Step number 3 - making a chopper

We will make the cutting element from a hacksaw blade for wood. It is optimally suited for this purpose - durable, flexible, without memory, keeps sharpening well.

We cut out a plate from a hacksaw blade about 5 cm wide and about 30 cm long.

We weld two metal strips to it along the edges - this will be the attachment to the plug of our device.

Do not forget to sharpen one side of the hacksaw plate. Although this can be done when the device is completely ready.

Step number 4 - fix the chopper on the wheel

We weld a U-shaped blank from a hacksaw on a tree from the bottom of the fork as shown in the photo above. We sharpen it if it has not been done before.

If you fasten the chopper with a bolted connection, then you can make a whole range of choppers of various shapes for various purposes.

Weeding faster and easier

All the load falls on the wheel and the chopper. Weeds are removed by forward forward movements of the tool. If cutting the roots of the weeds did not work out from the first movement, then it is repeated and moved a little forward and continue to cut the weeds.

Cutting is easier than loosening and removing weeds by the roots. The pruning method, on the other hand, allows you to pass aisles in a short time and cut new weed formations. It is recommended to pass once or twice a week - this is a walk without much effort.
