UPS power
The output power of an uninterruptible power supply is measured in VA. This indicator indicates the maximum total power of the connected equipment. It is he who is often critical when choosing a UPS.
It is worth considering that the value in watts indicated in the instructions for the technique is the active power of the device. Many devices also have reactive power, which should be taken into account in the selection of an uninterruptible power supply.
Most often, a UPS is purchased to connect a PC. You can determine its power using measurements. The safest way to do this is with a current clamp, the use of a multimeter can lead to electric shock. Measurement should be carried out at maximum load on the processor and video card. The result obtained should be multiplied by the network voltage indicator. In this case, we obtain the required total power in VA.
A cruder but simpler method is to divide the maximum power of the power supply (indicated in Watts) by the power factor. In this case, the real indicator of the computer will be lower, but not higher.
