A hot stand is an important attribute of kitchen utensils. Its main purpose is to prevent damage to the surfaces of kitchen furniture when freshly cooked dishes are placed on it, the containers with which have a high temperature.

How to make a stand with your own hands

original wooden product
Most often, these products are made of wood. The use of plastic or metal as a material is not recommended. The plastic may have a low melting point.
The metal, on the other hand, has a high thermal conductivity and quickly heats up to the temperature of a hot container, that is, the metal stand will not perform its functions of protecting the surface of the countertop. The article discusses the manufacture of a simple hot stand made of wood with your own hands.
Action No. 1 Choice of material of manufacture

Hot pad blanks made from a thin board
The easiest option would be to use a board several centimeters thick as a material for the stand. However, if you need to make a stand quickly, it is not always possible to find such a board. A compromise solution would be to use a stacked structure consisting of thin wooden elements glued together.
Such a design will be light and quite durable. In addition, the material for it can be found in any home. Always and everywhere there is some kind of wooden production waste, the remains of packaging material, various decorative elements, or simply unnecessary wooden structures of small thickness. The main thing is that the material is enough for the intended purpose.
Action No. 2 Fabrication of the structure

A long board is applied to the ruler, on the edges of which glue is applied
The design under consideration includes about a dozen long wooden strips and twice as many short ones glued together. The design idea is quite simple:
- two short ones are glued along the edges of a long strip
- then a long one is glued to them again
- then again short at the edges
- etc.
The resulting "sandwich" will be the basis for the stand.
To simplify assembly, it is advisable to use a ruler along which one of the edges of the stand structure will be aligned.
Uses standard wood glue. You can use any glue for this purpose, for example PVA, sold in tubes. The adhesive is applied with a skeletal sealant gun.

In turn, new layers of short and long boards are added to the structure.
After the design is fully assembled, proceed to its further processing.

Hot plate preparation
The stand still has uneven edges, in addition, some defects are possible during its creation, due to the curvature of the table on which it was typed. All this will be eliminated in the further processing of it.
Action #3 Aligning the Geometry of the Stand

Leveling the boards from which the stand is assembled with a mallet
Next, you should finally align the entire structure and fix it until the drying process is completed. For this, a mallet and clamps are used.
First, the workpiece is slightly fixed with clamps and, while the glue has not yet hardened, it is leveled with the help of blows of a rubber mallet. At the same time, individual structural elements that protrude slightly beyond the dimensions of the stand fall into place.
After the stand geometry is aligned, it is finally fixed with at least two clamps and left for several days until the glue dries completely.
Step #4 Finishing the base

Trimming protruding structural elements with a circular saw
The glued stand must be made symmetrical and with smooth edges. To do this, you need to cut off the extra "tails" of wooden elements on both end sides. It is best to do this operation using a machine with a circular saw.
Next, proceed to a finer processing of the surface of the stand.

Chamfering the edges of the stand with an electric tool
First of all, it is necessary to make chamfers along all the edges of the resulting structure. Almost all wooden kitchen utensils should have rounded ends so they don't break and pose a danger to those who work in the kitchen. To do this, you can use any tool for chamfering, both manual and automatic.

Using a cordless grinder to finish the surface of the stand
The next step is grinding the surface of the stand. It can also be done by hand or with a special tool - any kind of grinder.
Action #5 Painting the stand

Applying paint to the stand with a spray gun
The stand can be painted in any color you like. You can just varnish it. In any case, the paint must be sufficiently heat resistant. The method of painting, the number of components of the paint mixture, the tool used - it all depends on the desire of the master.

Ready hot stand
After painting, it is necessary to dry the supply for several days.
