How to eliminate fogging of plastic windows in the apartment? Getting rid of condensation and keep the house warm!

getting rid of condensation on plastic windows

As soon as the cold comes condensation on plastic windows does not make you wait long. Not only do windows fog up, but moisture also accumulates on the windowsill. This can lead to mold on the window slopes, which is very undesirable.

The causes of condensation are poor ventilation of the premises, high humidity in the house. Such a "disease" most often affects single-chamber plastic windows. We offer you a way that will reliably protect your windows from condensation, and your pocket from excessive spending.

Materials for work

In order to eliminate fogging of plastic windows, you will need:

  • thermal film made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET);
  • roulette;
  • double sided tape;
  • scissors;
  • degreaser;
  • several microfiber cloths or towels.

Step 1. Preparatory work

We clean the window sill from unnecessary items, providing access to the window. We degrease the surface of plastic frames and glasses in order to better hold the adhesive tape and film after gluing. Wipe all surfaces dry.

Step 2. Sticking tape

1

We measure the width and height of the frame with a tape measure. We take double-sided tape and cut off the desired strips.

2

We remove the protective film from the adhesive tape and glue it to the frame. Then remove the protective film from the other side.

Step 3. We glue the PET film

1

We measure and cut the PET film to the size of the glass + allowances of 5 cm on each side.

2

We remove the protective layer on one side of the film, and glue it with this side to the glass, and allowances - on double-sided tape glued to the profile.

3

Remove the remaining protective layer, being careful not to damage the film. As you can see, PET film is transparent and practically does not reduce the level of illumination in the room.

PET film reflects infrared rays coming from batteries and other heating devices inside the room, increasing energy saving by 30%. Thus, we get one more additional chamber in a double-glazed window.

Testing

1

We put a kettle of water on the stove and let it boil for a while. This will increase the humidity in the room. This is a good time to check windows for condensation.
