What to do if your favorite knife, which has served you for a long time, has a broken handle. I don’t want to throw it away, and I don’t want to find a good helper in the kitchen, hunting or fishing not so easy. There is a way out: arm yourself with a piece of a water pipe from 32 to 40 mm in diameter and the necessary tools and make the knife handle convenient and reliable on your own.

Materials for manufacturing
To make a knife handle you will need:
- polypropylene pipe;
- gas-burner;
- hacksaw;
- vise;
- grinding machine;
- sandpaper.
Step 1. Heat up with a burner
We cut off a piece of polypropylene pipe, the length of which is several centimeters longer than the length of the knife shank. We spread a little vise, put the pipe in the recess and begin to heat it evenly from all sides with a gas burner.

Step 2. Clamp in a vise
Inside the heated pipe we insert the shank of the knife and clamp it in a vice.

It turned out here is such a preparation.

Step 3. We form the handle
We clamp the workpiece in a vise with the blade up. With a hacksaw, we cut off the excess from the workpiece, adjusting it to the width of the knife blade.

As a result of this stage, the workpiece takes the following form.

With the help of a grinding machine, we grind all the corners, giving the workpiece a streamlined shape.

Then, using a grinding machine with a fine-grained disc of a smaller diameter, we finalize the shape.

After the grinding machine, we refine the surface with sandpaper - first coarse-grained, then fine-grained, and at the end - zeroing.

Here is our result.
